Waiting for the swearing-in

So we left the ball last night a little after 1 a.m. When we got to the Metro station and were waiting for a train, there was a spontaneous eruption of "Obama! Obama!" chants with the post-party crowds. We got home to Maryland at 2 a.m. and planned to rise at 6 a.m. so we only got 4 hours of sleep. We had a pretty uneventful trip into the city on the Metro (given what we were expecting from news reports). We did, however, have a long wait to get through security (blogged about earlier). There was one point that got really crowded. A claustrophobe would have been having a very tough time. But for the most part, the crowd was civil and polite to each other with little pushing and shoving. Here is another photo from the wait (the sign in the background was from a labor union):
